Social Signals in your SEO strategy

There has been a lot of talk lately about social signals and how Google uses them. What are social signals you may ask? A social signal is what it says. It’s a signal of your social prominence. If you are in the SEO industry you will know that Twitter and Facebook uses no-follow attributes in their links, so expecting to increase your PageRank value directly from social links is impossible. But you still gain value from social networking because Google uses social signals.

The importance of a social signal is ‘ranked’ according to a variety of factors but most importantly include the following:

  • HumanRank – This is an individual accounts’ authority within the social network.
  • Relevance – Your content needs to be relevant to the industry. It is believed you gain HumanRank for your industry if your content is consistent.
